Book Report

Book Report,

American Sniper

The book American Sniper by Chris Kyle is an Autobiography about his childhood and his time in the military as a SEAL. The start of the book like any biography picked up rather slow and I found myself struggling to continue reading the book. While it was interesting hearing about an American Hero’s childhood I still found it a little boring. The book really started to pick up when he started talking about his high school career and his start in the military. The author, Chris, goes into great detail about the seal training describing the long runs in the heat and the miles of swimming he had to do. He says the one day they had to stand naked it freezing cold so they gathered around each other. He says that the officers were always telling them to quit and to give up, and in order to make it sound more appealing they offered coffee and donuts to the person that went up rang the bell and quit. But no matter how many times he was tempted he never went and rang the bell. When the SEAL training ended he mets the girl who will become his wife. For me this is when I became unable to put the book down. He describes his experience with so much detail that you could, literally, feel the tension of the conflicts happening around him. At one point towards the end of the book even though you knew he would survive you started fearing for the worst. He was evacuated their encampment through an emergency helicopter taking him to a hospital in america where he is treated for his wounds. I believe that that part of the story was the climax. While reading my heart started pumping and I just couldn't put the book down. Overall I think that American Sniper by Chris Kyle was a great book and would recommend it to anyone who wants to read a book.
